I currently have Linuxppc DR5 beta2 with 2.2.9 kernel installed on a powerbase 180 with a G3 upgrade. I have been running DR5 for quite a while now and I am interested in installing debian-powerpc on a separate 1gig patition on the system. I have searched for info on doing this but didn't come up with much so I wanted to check a couple of things out with this list before I dove in head first.
1) It looks like I should be able to just untar the base in the new partition and the point bootx at that for the root partition. Is that true? 2) Can I still use bootx with debian? ( I haven't been able to get this box to boot with bootvars - openfirmware.) 3) Can the two distro's coexist on the same machine? 4) Has anybody on this list done this? Can you provide any pointers?
