Do you get any error messages or it just dies without a word?
I just ran apt-get upgrade. Apt did install a new set of xlibs and FB driver. Unfortunately xserver still cannot start. That is on 603e. The first uncommented line of my X11/fonts/misc/fonts.alias file already is: fixed -misc-fixed-medium-r-semicondensed--13-120-75-75-c-60-iso8859-1 Dies with: Fatal server error: could not open default font 'fixed' I'm not 100% sure that server is looking in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts... There is now a directory /etc/X11/fonts/ with misc/xfonts-base.alias. Except for a few comments that file is identical to /usr/X11R6 version. Is there an easy way to specify a different startup font? -- Christopher F.
