Hi, You should think about using yaboot, it works really fine on my G3 with MacOS 9 (iMac DVD).
Did you follow yaboot prescriptions :
first a 800k partition (Apple_Bootstrap)
linux stuff
MacOS partition(s)
I can send you a tex or ps file describing my install (the start of...)
