Just thought, is is due to the kernel being compiled assuming the root partition is /dev/sda1 and your using sda2/3/4 as sda1 is your boot partition? If so you need to add root=/dev/sdaX when booting, on Motorola's PowerStacks you can use the GEVEDIT command in PPC1-Bug to do this, you need PPC1-Bug version > 1.4 as I know that doesn't support it, but 1.9 does, may be different for the ibm, but I think prep was ibm/moto so should be same! > I tried to roll my own bootable CD with > mkisofs, as a rockridge extensions, and a kernel image that works from > floppy, as and El torito bootable CD.
