basically pon providername (or if you must wvdial) needs to have something
added to the init string to make the modem actually work
basically an init string of ATX1 should do the trick. You can download a pdf
file detailing all the At stuff and whatnot for the apple modems from the
apple web site somewherre if you wish, but that is all that is needed in the
init string to make it work. The recent minicom versions work fine, older ones
didnt, due to this problem partly.
