Maybe someone who has MacOS could save a snapshot of the nvram, boot MacOS, frob the volume, then take another snapshot of the nvram and diff them? It doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to track it down from there�. �Speaking with little actual knowledge of the structure of nvram and MacOS, of course :)
