I decided to try the Mac OS method. I partitioned the hard drive and put
Mac OS 9 on a 1GB partition. The installed BootX, copied the kernel into
system folder along with extensions and ramdisk.
system boots fine and i am able to do the base install and rebooted back to
BootX and can get into linux no problems (knock on wood).
Chris and Ethan thanks for your support in my attempts to get the system
going.
sincerely

Try
nvsetenv /pci/mac-io/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]:0
when i tried this command it gave me variable not called error. I tried
nvsetenv boot-device /pci/mac-io/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]:0 this did not give
me
the error but when I reboot I am getting
can't open: /pci/mac-io/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]:0 error on a white
screen (i
am guessing the OF screen?)
also do I need to setup another variable I found in some documentation on
the web that says boot-file?
thank you

If you get a boot: prompt, try typing Linux in response.
