Is it really impossible to change your date using something like
date 041022442002
as root??? I'd be _really_ surprised if that's the case...
After that, "hwclock --utc --systohc" should write the system time to your
CMOS clock...
Maybe I still haven't understood your problem. (That's why I haven't
answered in the first place...)
