I guess some are lucky and some aren't :-)

[EMAIL PROTECTED]> xmodmap -pk|grep -i multi ~
    63 0xffaa (KP_Multiply)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]> xmodmap -pk|grep -i mode ~

[EMAIL PROTECTED]> xmodmap -pk|grep -i compose ~

so I don't have any of those keys...
what keyboard layout should I be using then?

currently this is my X config file:

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
        Driver "keyboard"
        Option "CoreKeyboard"
        Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
        Option "XkbModel" "macintosh"
        Option "XkbLayout" "us"
EndSection

[EMAIL PROTECTED]> xmodmap -pk|grep Multi_key ~
    115 0xffe7 (Meta_L) 0xff20 (Multi_key)

So it's shift-apple/cmd.

Oh, and while we're at it, I noticed this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]> xmodmap -pk|grep Mode_switch ~
     64 0xffe9 (Alt_L) 0xff7e (Mode_switch)

So shift-alt/option is the 'AltGr' a lot of people are desperately
looking for. :)
