Talking about keys under X, my iBook doesn't have a delete key
(well, the key with "delete" label is actually a backspace
under Linux, but I'd like to get a real delete when I'm typing
        things in Emacs).

        I have already tried

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
dumont:/home/rbrito> xmodmap -e "keycode 22 = BackSpace Delete"
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

but shift+backspace doesn't work with some applications like
xterm or rxvt or emacs (the application just beeps, instead of
deleting the character below the cursor).

The weird thing (and what makes it harder to understand the
situation) is that shift+bs actually _works_ in mozilla (say,
        deleting urls).

Also, the program xev says that shift+bs is working as a
delete. And I get this, after I try setting my keyboard:

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
dumont:/home/rbrito> xmodmap -pke | grep -i backspace
keycode 22 = BackSpace Delete
dumont:/home/rbrito>
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

So, is this a bug or am I missing something?

        Thanks for any help, Roger...
