Might not be related, but just one more thing:
if i stop the graphical login (/etc/init.d/gdm stop) from the console,
it becomes totally useless, since i cannot see anything. it is some sort
of foggy effect. dunno how to describe it.
if i do
# sleep 2 ; /etc/init.d/gdm stop
[alt-f7]
then the console can be seen without any problem.
Any idea?
