Hi all, For roughly two weeks now, I've had serious problems with the Airport card in my first-gen TiBook.
It will find the base station OK, get the 'usual' low link quality, and work mostly OK (i.e. as always) for shell interactive work. However, any important traffic (like starting an X app) just won't work. Instead, the 'Tx excessive retries' counter goes up through the roof. Nothing I did so far could bring the card back to normal working state. The next thing I'll try is go back to older kernels and see if it's a driver problem. Before doing this, I wanted to check if anybody has seen the same problem. Currently I'm running: pooh:~# uname -r 2.4.20-ben1-airsnort (i.e patched Orinoco 0.11b for Airsnort (doesn't work)) The card's firmware: pooh kernel: eth1: Looks like a Lucent/Agere firmware version 8.40 Looking back through my kern.log, I found I upgraded the card's firmware somewhere between the 20th and 27th of October last year. I don't think I have the problem that long... The Airport base station (graphite) doesn't seem to be the problem; it works perfectly well with a Cisco Aironet card. Some googling around shows that others have had the same symptoms, but no definite answer. Thoughts, anyone? Thanks, and cheers Michel ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michel Lanners | " Read Philosophy. Study Art. 23, Rue Paul Henkes | Ask Questions. Make Mistakes.
