Ben,
Most of the time, people recommend using make-kpkg. I find it saves
time typing over make mrproper && make oldconfig && make dep && make modules
&& make modules_install && make vmlinux and then copying the right files to
boot, each and every time.
Is there something powerpc specific in your reason for not using it?
