Michael- Sounds like solid advice. Can you point me in the direction of how to dump the video chip registers? Are those logged somewhere? Or is there an app for accessing those?

Some parameter in the video chip isn't set up quite right (your description sounds like what my Lombard did with mclk set too low). Keep trying new kernel releases, or dump the video chip registers before and after sleep to compare what's changed. Michael
