It's more than just slightly different; the woody packages may be too old to work well with an M9, at least without Option "UseFBDev". > Apple System Profiler says my video card name is 'ATI,Xia_A'. Have you checked the log to see whether it's actually used? It should make a difference if radeonfb works correctly in console.
