Hi, If anyone has a clue as to where to look further that would be great. I've poked around in the Linux radeonfb driver as well as in the xfree86 radeon driver for clues, so far no success.
I recently had a broken motherboard on my iBook replaced. Previous to the replacement suspend worked well. Now the screen remains blank upon waking up. When the machine wakes the backlight turns back on, the machine accepts keyboard input and is accessible via the network, all appears to be working, but the display is all black. FWIW, OSX successfully redraws the screen on wake-up, so I believe the hardware to be OK. I have tried two different kernels with the same results: Debian 2.4.22-powerpc 2.4.23-pre5-ben0 Included is output from the radeon driver initializing with debug turned on in case that helps[1]. I get the same bad behavior at console as well as in X.
