Can't get Controlfb to display 16 bit colors ;////

How can i manage to display graphics in 16 Bit color under X using controlfb (i have a powermac 8500/150) ??
under X , i can only use 8, 15 and 24/32 modes.... 16 bit color gets me funny colors, like a screwed colormap , ... strange huh ?
