Have you got the CONFIG_SERIAL_PMACZILOG kernel option disabled? Are you using the latest version of pmud or pbbuttonsd? Have you tried with kernel 2.6.7?
Anyway, I think that your problem has nothing to do with the one I had, but trying newer versions might help.
Did you upgrade your Gnome version (I heard that 2.6.2 was released a few days ago)? Or maybe some libs...
