The problem, most likely, is with the application and not with libc (unless
other programs also show this same behaviour).

Which program is it? Have you tried to use it under the experimental
version of valgrind. It surely looks like a problem with memory allocation
of such program.

Perhaps you could test the behaviour of this program on x86, where valgrind
runs best?
