No idea, 2.6.14 is in NEW and 2.6.14-rc5 in experimental, just test them, and file a bug report if the problem persists. Ah, ... wait, Well, 2.6.14 uses yaird or initramfs-tools, none of which are as broken as initrd-tools, and thus will not try modprobing random ide drivers, and you should not have this problem.
