I tried booting the graphical installer (the file mini.iso dowloaded from http://people.debian.org/~fjp/d-i/gtk-miniiso/alpha/powerpc/) on a dual G5 (PowerMac7,3) today. It would just hang after trying to start the processor (similar to what the old sarge installer kernel did early on).
