Background: Kernel 2.6.22 on a powerbook G4, alsa-utils 1.0.15-1

When capturing sound with aoa the volume is much too low. A VoIP-Partner
for example hears only a faint wisper of your voice.

According to 'amixer scontrols' the aoa microphone has the following
capabilities: cswitch cswitch-joined cswitch-exclusive. That is, it's
only switchable.

The usb-audio driver microphone (e. g. with a Griffin iMic) has the
capabilities: cvolume cswitch cswitch-joined, is therefore adjustable
and delivers fine sound capturing.

Why is it like this? A shortcoming of aoa hardware (I don't think so),
of the aoa driver, of the driver/mixer interface?

Any hints are appreciated.

Regards,

M.
