Hi there. Do you have a slow machine that has, say, a G3 processor and has access to a much faster ia32/x86-64 machine, but want to keep the PowerPC machine (I do)?
Do you want to compile your own kernels, but are afraid of the time that it takes to compile things on the G3 and would be much more pleased if the dual/quad ia32/x86-64 machine could be used to compile the kernel for your G3? Then, you can "fullfil your dreams" cross-compiling your kernels, that is, generating a handy Debian package (i.e., a .deb package) with your faster machine and use it on the PowerPC. I just did that yesterday night. I created a script to automate the whole thing. It is darned easy with the flexibility of the GNU tools that we have today (actually, I have two scripts). This is simply beautiful technology, working at its best. If anybody is interested in what I have, please let me know and I will promptly release them in their dirty, working versions (for me).
