We (thank you, Tom, for testing) have found a solution to the remaining problem with silent Pro Speakers (2.5 mm jack). A patched (debug) version of the (snd-powermac) driver is available at:

Maybe worth to mention that it only addresses problems on that particular machine, and has not been really tested on any other machines. The other (blacklisting snd-aoa in installer) problem has been addressed in a patch that's on its way through the machinery into sid. Snd-aoa is still under further study...
