A response from another Tom...

Debian Squeeze (what MintPPC is based on) is a great OS but it does still have 
some issues.  I found that out when I tried to get sound working on my PM G4 
Digital Audio.  The installer assigns this particular machine the wrong sound 
module and it needed a rather complicated work-around (thanks, Risto) to get it 
working right.  Maybe the installer will be fixed in Wheezy... or maybe not.

This list is definitely where you need to be.  This is not a MintPPC problem, 
it's a Debian problem.  Someone has run into it before and will help you with 
it.
