I read the following threads, and it seems that we have two solutions

1) use nv, instead of nouveau. I might need to use a patched nv version. 

2) disable acceleration of nouveau, by a kernel parameter. 


Is this a correct reading? 

Just one more thing -- are they already patched into MintPPC (the patched nv 
package)?
