This is due to yaboot's ofboot.b script hanging if no display connection

Possible solutions:
* Using GRUB instead of yaboot?
* Removing the "screen" line from the ofboot.b script.
* Connecting something to a display output. With my G5, connecting just
a DVI-to-VGA adapter to a DVI port was enough to avoid the problem, no
actual monitor required.
I have a DVI-to-VGA adapter on the back of the test G5 here and that is
not enough. I think yaboot is the problem and GRUB is needed. However
GRUB doesn't seem to exist for ppc64. So an old server type monitor is
left attached to the G5 for now.
