So actually, it looks like I was using the image you linked to -- it's the exact same size as the one I wrote to the USB drive last time. But just to confirm, I downloaded it again, wrote it to the USB drive again, and I still have the same problem as upthread.
Makes me wonder if I should try the old 10.0.0 though?
