Dear Valek, thanks for your quick response.

Unless you are going to add TrueType instructions, TTF version generated automatically would look at best not better than Type1.
I don't know if the fault is at pango, fontconfig or libfreetype (or anything else involved in the font rendering stack), but I have tested myself with pango-view and the onscreen-rendering is vastly improved if the Truetype variant is selected instead of the Type1 one. For comparison I have posted images to the original bug report in Debian requesting the Truetype conversions: <http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=496070#59>
The other reason for the Truetype variant is that cups could finally print plain text with the original Courier, ne Nimbus Mono font. ;)
I believe there will be near no difference between SFDs I have and ones you can save once open PFBs in Fontforge.
Generally you may be right, but I'd prefer if I could avoid this manual disassembly and rebuild the fonts from your original sfd files.
I think it could be pre45, but can't check right now -- my main computer still disconnected. I will reach it on weekend and reply on that one.
