On a Lenny system, there is an HP Officejet 6000 printer on USB. It was installed through CUPS GUI as name Officejet and prints fine. However, I have been unsuccessful at getting hplip to talk to it. Installed are: ii hplip 3.10.5-4~bpo50+1 ii hplip-cups 3.10.5-4~bpo50+1 ii hplip-data 3.10.5-4~bpo50+1 ii hplip-gui 3.10.5-4~bpo50+1
I ran hp-setup as root. It saw the printer and CUPS now shows it as a second printer named Officejet_6000_E609a. lpstat shows: device for Officejet: usb://HP/Officejet%206000%20E609a?serial=CN0CS1F08C057W device for Officejet_6000_E609a: hp:/usb/Officejet_6000_E609a?serial=CN0CS1F08C057W Officejet accepting requests since Wed 05 Oct 2011 07:36:20 AM EDT Officejet_6000_E609a accepting requests since Tue 04 Oct 2011 11:55:40 AM EDT But for example running $ hp-levels -g Officejet_6000_E609a (...) error: Unable to communicate with device (code=12): hp:/usb/Officejet_6000_E609a?serial=CN0CS1F08C057W hp-levels[17267]: debug: Exception: 2 (Device not found) error: Error opening device (Device not found).
