This only happens when updating the PPD files for hpcups. printer-driver-hpcups.ppd-updater is read. It contains s/,?(\s*hpijs,?|,)\s*[\d\.]+[a-zA-Z]*[\d\.]*\s*$//; and s/\s*(Foomatic\/|)(hpijs)(\s*\S+|)$//i; Deleting the first one gets the correct behaviour. However, I have no idea why either is there and what they do so am reluctant to see this as a real fix. Perhaps it's best to seek comments from Mark Purcell, one of the HPIJS and HPLIP maintainers with a CC of this mail. > if I reassign the hpijs PPD driver to the fake-printer and repeat > the update of the PPD the fake-printer keeps the hpijs PPD I think this is #736089.
