cupsctl --debug-logging works in that LogLevel in cupsd.conf changes to "debug". However, cupsd does not restart and the service enters a failed state. Details at https://lists.debian.org/debian-printing/2017/04/msg00049.html Is this related to CUPS issue #4915? https://github.com/apple/cups/issues/4915 After reading https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/51774 I added, with a successful outcome, "Restart=on-failure" to cups.service.
