I was just about to post in reply to M G Berberich's mail to #870463 when this one arrived. My suggestion was (and still is) that the ~/.cups/lpoptions be moved and the PRINTER (or LPDEST) environment variable be set instead. (M G Berberich has been CC'ed). pcl is a local print queue set to print to a file. With 'lpstat -d' I get lpstat: error - PRINTER environment variable names non-existent destination "pcl". 'lp /etc/nsswitch' gives lp: Error - scheduler not responding. Regards, Brian.
