Maybe, in the future, some more tasksel options like "desktop-home-user", "desktop-corporate", "desktop-soho", "desktop-minimal", or something like, could help. Some plugins are not allowed to be "directly" on cd and need to be downloaded (as some java packages, some true type fonts, etc). Your idea of a script from a desktop icon is more aligned with the policy. But this needs more careful reading of policy. Regards.
