Package xanim-modules could be completely repaired by substituting ftp://ftp.fu-berlin.de/unix/X11/graphics/xanim/dlls/ for ftp://xanim.va.pubnix.com/dlls/ on the several lines that the no-longer-valid URL "ftp://xanim.va.pubnix.com/dlls/"; is used.
At the moment, one works around the problem by saying "no" at the prompt asking "Download xanim modules? [yes/no]", and then manually downloading these files from ftp://ftp.fu-berlin.de/unix/X11/graphics/xanim/dlls/ : vid_cvid_2.1_linuxELFx86c6.tgz vid_cyuv_1.0_linuxELFx86c6.tgz vid_h261_1.0_linuxELFx86c6.tgz vid_h263_1.1_linuxELFx86c6.tgz vid_iv32_2.1_linuxELFx86c6.tgz vid_iv41_1.1_linuxELFx86c6.tgz vid_iv50_1.0_linuxELFx86c6.tgz and then running update-xanim-modules DIR", where DIR is the name of the directory that contains the downloaded files. -- Cheers, I've been suffering death by PowerPoint, recently.
