What this means is, if your direct map key is /usr/share/bilbo, then /usr will become an automount mount point, mounting over the existing /usr. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have an old autofs configuration with direct-map mounting of /usr/local from NFS. This works fine on Solaris hosts, and was ignored by the linux machines until now (we use fstab mounting of /usr/local on linux). But now with 4.1.3-4 in testing everything breaks... Linux autofs mounts /usr, making the machines unusable. As this change breaks existing setups should a big debconf-warning during upgrade show up! A better solution is to disable direct-maps by default, and only enable it if a variable is set, as long as it is broken. / Anders -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.9 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (ignored: LC_ALL set to sv_SE) Versions of packages autofs depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an -- no debconf information --------------------------------------- Received: (at 279627-close) by bugs.debian.org; 8 Dec 2004 10:39:10 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Dec 08 02:39:10 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from newraff.debian.org [208.185.25.31] (mail) by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1CbzDy-0000Ip-00; Wed, 08 Dec 2004 02:39:10 -0800 Received: from katie by newraff.debian.org with local (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1Cbz77-00024I-00; Wed, 08 Dec 2004 05:32:05 -0500 From: Francesco Paolo Lovergine <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Katie: $Revision: 1.54 $ Subject: Bug#279627: fixed in autofs 4.1.3-6 Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sender: Archive Administrator <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Wed, 08 Dec 2004 05:32:05 -0500 Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 X-Spam-Level: Source: autofs Source-Version: 4.1.3-6 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of autofs, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: autofs-hesiod_4.1.3-6_i386.deb to pool/main/a/autofs/autofs-hesiod_4.1.3-6_i386.deb autofs-ldap_4.1.3-6_i386.deb to pool/main/a/autofs/autofs-ldap_4.1.3-6_i386.deb autofs_4.1.3-6.diff.gz to pool/main/a/autofs/autofs_4.1.3-6.diff.gz autofs_4.1.3-6.dsc to pool/main/a/autofs/autofs_4.1.3-6.dsc autofs_4.1.3-6_i386.deb to pool/main/a/autofs/autofs_4.1.3-6_i386.deb A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached.
