I did not say not to remove a package which is obsolete.

I object to deciding that "orphaned" or "minimally maintained" are the
same as "obsolete".

Go ahead and remove packages that you *know* are obsolete, that's
fine.  But that's not what the subject line of this thread is talking
about.
