Possible reasons to remove a package https://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/removals
2. Incompatible with upstream versions
3. Alternatives available
4. No maintainer upload in the last years
6. Amin Bandali, Maintainer MIA

The maintainer, Savoir-faire Linux, of the upstream Jami project, has had bug reports because of the packaging here.

There is currently no maintainer for the Jami package in the unstable distribution, indicating that the package either no longer exists or was never properly maintained. Alexandre Viau has written that he is no longer a maintainer for Jami in Debian. The last known maintainer was the Debian VoIP Team, but they have not been actively maintaining the package, and the package has been removed from Debian (trixie) repositories due to being outdated, unmaintained, and incompatible with upstream versions.

As a result, users are advised to install Jami directly from the official Jami repositories rather than using the Debian package, as the Debian version is no longer reliable for communication with current upstream releases. The official Jami documentation, https://docs.jami.net/setup/debian.html, provides instructions for installing Jami on Debian systems via their own repositories, which are updated more frequently and align with the latest upstream developments.

The current version of PureOS is based on bullseye (oldoldstable), and the next version of PureOS will be based on bookworm (oldstable). https://source.puri.sm/pureos/tasking/-/issues/81

So please remove jami, jami-daemon, jami-daemon-dbgsym, jami-dbgsym packages from bullseye (oldoldstable), bookworm (oldstable), sid (unstable), and experimental. https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=jami

Please note that Jami has already been removed from the current stable release, Debian version 13, codenamed Trixie.

Thank you
