:) I'd move it to pedantic.

It's already pedantic ("Experimental: yes" is another thing altogether). I would strongly oppose to moving this back to "Experimental: no" as many, many people (including me) complained about this tag.

AFAIU, your copyright notice doesn't need to be updated yearly to stay valid, even if you add new changes. As such, I don't think Lintian should promote busy work.

  - This tag was changed to Experimental because it was not really actionable
(#916207). I feel this is outside of the scope of what a lintian tag should
recommend.

I disagree.

Hmm ok, let's keep this one then.

* duplicate-files

  - This tag has been Experimental since 2011 and asks maintainers to do very complex
work (hunting and replacing "duplicate" files by symlinks) for very little
results. I feel this is outside of the scope of what a lintian tag should recommend.

why? I think this is exactly in scope.

Again, I think this is busy work and not really important, at least not with the price of storage having dramatically gone down since 2010.

If someone thinks removing duplicate files is important, actions should be taken to improve the default DH tooling to have this be done automatically on all packages instead of requiring the maintainer of these tens of thousands of packages to add new lines in their d/rules files :*(

  - Python 2 has been removed from the archive a while ago and isn't coming
back. I have opened #1124516 to flag this issue for the only package that
raises this check.

so it is valid?

It is, but it's not useful anymore.

In the end, removing code that isn't necessary anymore:

1. makes Lintian easier to maintain
2. makes Lintian faster to run on large packages

this one I think should/can go :)

I tend to agree, but it'll stay for now since others think it's important :)

Thank you very much for your work on lintian! Please do take my comments as
comments
or opinions, but not demands or some such.

Thanks for the feedback, it's useful!
