An idea : it could be due to Ceratopsian being SVG and the SVG rendering being 
broken. Same for other Debian wallpapers. The backgrounds shipped by KDE/Plasma 
on the other hand would be jpeg.

Could you try with another Debian and another non-Debian wallpaper to test SVG 
vs JPEG and confirm if / when it crashes ?

If not all SVGs it would mean Ceratopsian uses a particular SVG feature / 
combination that triggers the crash.
