Hi,

seems to be related to type 3 fonts.

We had the same bug on stable and also on oldstable after installing the
new security patch.

But after installing the package cm-super pdflatex was able to generate
pdf files with type 1 fonts which are now rendered properly with xpdf or
okular.

The problem still exists for old pdf files with type 3 fonts. After
applying the latest security patch for poppler these files
produce the following errors:

output pdffonts:
name type encoding emb sub uni object ID
[none] Type 3 Custom yes no no 4 0

output xpdf:
Syntax Error (150): Missing or bad Type3 CharProc entry

Regards

Carsten
