The ext2resize package is frozen because it contain an udeb. The udeb was added in version 1.1.19-8 when I believed it was needed to make online resizable ext3 file systems in d-i. I've since learned that it is enough to move /sbin/tune2fs away during installation to get that. Because of this, I just uploaded version 1.1.19-9 dropping the udeb, and there should be no reason to freeze ext2resize any more.
