Well, there are always a number of packages in exactly that state in a release; again, it doesn't seem to me that ion3 is special in that regard. Besides, it does seem like these packages stand a good chance of being adopted. Now if you think this package will be unsupportable security-wise over the course of the release cycle, that would certainly be a good reason to drop it from the release, no question.
