The new upstream version assimp-6.0.2 comes with a soname bump from
libassimp.so.5 to libassimp.so.6.
consequently, the binary package has been renamed from libassimp5 to libassimp6.
the following packages are impacted:
- deal.ii
- gnome-model-thumbnailer
- mrpt
- vkmark
- ros-collada-urdf, ros-geometric-shapes, ros-rviz
- qt6-3d, qt3d-opensource-src, qt6-quick3d
- dart
- mayo
- doomsday
- gem
- f3d
- open3d
- alicevision
- filament
i have done test-builds of all these packages against the new assimp, and all
succeed except for:
- f3d
- open3d
- alicevision
- filament
open3d and filament appear to FTBFS due to another dependecy (imgui).
alicevision doesn't even start the build (presumably because of unresolvable
B-Ds).
for f3d, i have filed #1112343, which includes a fix for the FTBFS
i'm afraid I have accidentally uploaded assimp_6.0.2 to unstable (currently
sitting in NEW due to the new binary package).
i'm awfully sorry about this, and I cannot explain why I missed to request a
transition slot beforehand.
cheers,
msdd

This is already done. Closing.
