Hi,

a new version 1.28.2 of nginx has been released, and version 1.28.2-1
has been uploaded to experimental.

I verified that all packages that build-depend on nginx-dev
rebuild fine against nginx 1.28.2-1.

And after uploading to unstable we will need to rebuild all modules in unstable.

I have created a transition tracker, should appear in the website soon.

Ben file:

title = "nginx";
is_affected = .depends ~ "nginx-abi-1.28.1-1" | .depends ~ "nginx-abi-1.28.2-1";
is_good = .depends ~ "nginx-abi-1.28.2-1";
is_bad = .depends ~ "nginx-abi-1.28.1-1";

PS:
I would like to automate these transitions,
so I have prepared a ticket in the nginx repo:
https://salsa.debian.org/nginx-team/nginx/-/issues/36.
And I will work on it.
So if you have any ideas on what to modify in the nginx package,
so that the process can be better automated, let me know,
or add a note to the ticket.
Any comments are welcome.

I'm not sure how you want to automate this. Since reverse-deps will always need to be rebuilt, and someone has to schedule those, this can't be "fully" automated. One option would be to aim to get a transition tracker created automatically, e.g. by leveraging the "upper limit" transitions, or by making the auto-transitioner create transitions for changed Provides (I have an old wip branch for this). But otherwise, as long as there's an ABI involved and rdeps need rebuilds, with the current way of managing transitions in Debian, I don't think what you want is possible.

Cheers,
Emilio
