Dear release team,

I would like to get a transition slot for the libnsl2 -> libnsl3 transition.
The latter is already in experimental. The main change in this version is the
drop for the NIS+ support, which means the corresponding symbols are not
exported anymore, requiring a SONAME bump even if the library uses symbol
versioning. Besides that the changes are minor.

I've tried rebuilding all the reverse dependencies against libnsl3 on amd64,
and the following packages build successfully:
- argus
 argus-clients
- autofs
- ball
- dar
- dcmtk
- dsniff
- iproute2
- java3d
- libnet-nis-perl
- libnss-nis
- ntirpc
- perdition
- pike8.0
- postfix
- proftpd-dfsg
- python3.13
- python3.14
- slapi-nis
- udptunnel
- ypbind-mt
- ypserv
- yp-tools

However sendmail FTBFS. The issue is reported in bug #1138718 and
includes a patch. Given it is QA maintained, I can do an upload when the
transition begins.

Ben file:

title = "libnsl";
is_affected = .depends ~ "libnsl2" | .depends ~ "libnsl3";
is_good = .depends ~ "libnsl3";
is_bad = .depends ~ "libnsl2";

Thanks for considering
Aurelien

Go ahead

Thanks. I have uploaded it yesterday and it built everywhere.

It seems that this transition is finished, libnsl2 is not anymore in
testing. Should this bug be closed?

Yes, closing.

Cheers,
Emilio
