Hi folks, This is a request to allow a long-overdue library transition for the new upstream version of FreTDS. The library in question, libct3, has the following reverse-dependencies in unstable:
Package: asterisk Package: gda2-freetds Package: libdbd-freetds Package: libdbd-sybase-perl Package: libgda3-freetds Package: sqlrelay-freetds Package: sqsh Of these, asterisk is currently tied to the popt migration, which I'm happy to wait for before going binNMU-happy. The php5-sybase and python-pymssql packages build against FreeTDS but use the libsybdb5 package, which has not undergone an ABI change. I'm preparing an upload of the lib to experimental currently; I don't actually have any plans to do a comprehensive rebuild test, because the APIs of libct and libsybdb are locked in for compatibility with non-free implementations and therefore any build problems would be identified early upstream and unequivocally considered bugs in FreeTDS itself. Do we have room for me to sneak this in as a last-minute lib transition for lenny? Thanks, -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world.
