Hello,
since there might be a freeze this year I would like like to upload gnutls 2.8.1 to sid soonish. The soname is unchanged just shlibs have been bumped. The major pain is this one: In the new stable release libgnutls-config and the m4 helper code for invoking it from ./configure have been dropped. Imho this is a good thing since it can lessen unneeded library linkage. Since gnutls has supported pkg-config for a long time the needed changes to ./configure.ac usually are one-liners. I test-built the build-depending packages in May and submitted bug reports on failing ones: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/[email protected] About 40% of the packages have already been fixed, most of the rest either have a patch or are forward upstream with suggested patch there. Uploading gnutls 2.8.1 to sid will make the yet unfixed bug reports rc, adding 21 rc bugs to lenny. I can continue to track this and if necessary fix them by NMU. In the improbable case that this ends up blocking the release there is the ugly, but rather easy way of temporary re-adding libgnutls-config as Debian specific patch. So please give me a go. ;-) cu andreas -- `What a good friend you are to him, Dr. Maturin.
