The debian-user list might have been more appropriate: http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/ In any case, it sounds like the issue is simply that the version of the Linux kernel in lenny is too old to support the ethernet device, it sounds like the CPU works fine: http://www.natecarlson.com/blog/2009/04/16/debian-lenny-on-nehalem-based-systems/ This was the second result in google for "Debian Nehalem".
