AFAIK the maintainer does also want to have python 2.6 as default for Squeeze, but does not want to upload 2.6 before some preconditions are met. There does not seem to be any consensus on these preconditions, though that either means that one should come to an agreement or overrule the maintainer. Do you think that the Release Team can help in getting to an agreement or is this rather directed to the Technical Committee to overrule the maintainer?
